Sleepvirtual participated in the Current Concepts in Sleep 2010 Tradeshow (CCS) at Trade Winds Resort in St. Petersburg, Florida September 3rd-4th, 2010. The conference day 1 focus was clinical applications in Circadian Rhythm Disorders, pharmacology of sleep, the use of cognitive behavioral therapy in treating sleep disorders, various topics on sleep disordered breathing and the latest treatment methodologies and management of complex insomnia in adults and children. Most often we as sleep techs are the biggest offenders of not practicing what we preach. We tell our patients to allow for adequate sleep time, reduce caffeine intake close to bed time, practice proper sleep hygiene, and maintain consistency when it comes going to bed and waking up. We, or least I, have been guilty of not following one or all of those suggestions at some point during my career. We, as sleep professionals, have to apply what we know about sleep to our personal lives as well. (more…)
