Sleep Medicine in Mexico is only starting at this point. Reimbursement is very low or nonexistent and the few physician that dedicate time to Sleep Medicine are tied with research.
“It is very hard to develop the discipline in a Clinical Environment if there is no reimburse or incentive,” said Dr. Reyes Haro from UNAM.
The old equipment that was used for research at the University was finally replaced by a Sleepvirtual BWII PSG sleep system. With this new acquisition the doctor and his staff are convinced that they will have much better results for their diagnostic needs.
