Neurovirtual participated in the Medica 2011 in Dusseldorf

Neurovirtual and Sleepvirtual participated in the Medica 2011 Tradeshow at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre in Düsseldorf, Germany November 16 – 19 2011. Medica is the world’s biggest medical trade fair. Medica 2011 attracted a record number of participants, with 4,571 exhibitors from 62 different countries in the medical arena. After 2 months, invitations were sent to 14,000 participants for the biggest Sleep Market Survey in 2011.

Sleepvirtual News releases the results of more than 400 participants that answered questions related to a variety of aspect of their daily life. Through their responses we discovered which were the sleep conferences they attend, magazines they read, equipment they own, and their level of satisfaction with each manufacturer.

Home Testing – The Internet Variable

Last week I spoke of a hypothetical motivating factor in reference to the amount of face time home testing is receiving from sleep medicines industrial rudders. Rudders, you know, changing the surface flow to make objects move in the desired direction.

The internet is no longer simply used for communication, sales and research. The internet is now a tool with industry specific applications. No, I’m not referring to “apps”. I am referring to the use of real time video, audio and file sharing. (more…)

Home Testing – Changing Sleeps Architecture

I recently gave a presentation in Montana titled “Integrating the Internet into the Sleep Lab”. Home testing was mentioned in the presentation, but how do you tie in home testing with the Internet?

Sleep studies performed at home typically fall under the Medicare classification of a type III PSG. This results with a reimbursement rate ranging from $150 to $400, give or take a few dollars. Many providers claim they do not perform or are unwilling to get into home testing, due to the difficulty in generating a reasonable profit margin.
