The Correlation of Sleep Disorders and Cancer

The National Cancer Institute reports that 50% of people suffering from various forms of cancer also suffer from “sleep disturbances,” characterized by the inability to fall asleep and sleep through the night. There are a number of reasons why cancer patients, including those with mesothelioma, may have trouble sleeping, including certain medications, anxiety and stress, and chronic pain.

Sleepvirtual attended the 20th Congress of the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS) on September 14th-18th, 2010. The ESRS at the Lisboa Congress Centre gave participants to the opportunity to travel to Lisbon, Portugal which should be on everyone’s must visit list. It is recognized for its unique luminosity, its green surroundings with the wide extension of the Tagus river mouth, the light pink color of the houses, the old tile panels and, most of all, for the warmth and friendly contact with its inhabitants.
